Xiaomi Launches Poco F1 with Snapdragon 845 SoC, LiquidCool Technology and Starting Price of Rs.20,999

Xiaomi’s new sub-brand Poco enters into the Indian market with their first smartphone – Poco F1. The brand is led by Jai Mani, Former Google Executive and Xiaomi’s Lead Product Manager. The company announced the four variants of the Poco F1 which goes up to 8GB RAM and 256GB Storage variant.

Well, the key highlight of Poco F1 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC integrated with the LiquidCool technology. The price of all the variants has been set under Rs.30,000 which is a major factor in the Indian market. The Poco F1 is going to be available exclusively on Flipkart via Flash sales as of now.

Poco F1 Specifications

The Poco F1 sports a 6.18-inch display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It comes with a Hybrid Sim slot which allows the dual-sim or a sim and a micro-SD card configuration. It comes in 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB memory options which can be expandable via a micro-SD card up to 256GB.

The Poco F1 comes with MIUI 9.6 out of the box and the MIUI 10 update is coming soon as well. The device is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and the company promised the latest Android 9.0 Pie in the future as well. Now, there is a new launcher “MIUI by Poco” which company is using in this device. It is basically a customized version of MIUI which is optimized for speed.

Now moving on to the Cameras, the Poco F1 features a dual-camera setup. The primary camera is of 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with 1.4-micron pixel, dual-pixel autofocus at the back. The secondary depth sensor from Samsung is of 5MP. The notch on the display contains an IR light that powers the Face-unlock feature and works amazingly well in extreme low-light conditions as well. It also features a 20MP Selfie camera with HDR and AI beautify features.

As already mentioned, the Poco F1 is powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC with LiquidCool Technology. Also, the RAM variants which are available are only 6GB and 8GB.

Connectivity options in this device include 4G+, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack. The sensors present on Poco F1 are an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. The NFC is not present on the Poco F1. The device comes with a 4,000mAh battery with 18W charging support. The device is Quick Charge 3.0 enabled with a fast charger bundled in the box.

Poco F1 Price and Offers 

The Poco F1 price in India starts from Rs.20,999 for 6GB RAM/ 64GB memory variant. Additionally, the 6GB RAM/ 128GB memory variant has been priced at Rs.23,999 and 8GB RAM/ 256GB memory variant has been priced at Rs.28,999. Additionally, an Armoured Edition of the Poco F1 with ‘real Kevlar’ was also announced at the event, priced at Rs. 29,999.

The smartphone has a polycarbonate back and comes with Rosso Red, Steel Blue, and Graphite Black color options. The Poco F1 will be available via Flipkart and Mi.com starting from 12 pm IST on August 29.

Buyers in the first sale will get an Rs. 1,000 instant discount on HDFC Bank credit and debit cards. Other launch offers include up to 6TB of data from Reliance Jio with additional benefits up to Rs. 8,000. A soft-case will be bundled in the box. Being a new brand in the market, it is worth noting that the servicing of the Poco F1 will be done by existing Xiaomi service centers.

So the conclusion is that the device has really disrupted the Indian market by giving flagship specifications at this price range. Overall, the device looks pretty good in terms of everything except its polycarbonate body. Apart from that, the device is already giving a very tough competition to the present flagships.
