Recently, OnePlus launched its much-awaited smartphone OnePlus 3 officially. The phone is far better than its predecessors and meets the expectations of the fans as per the hype created. The unibody aluminium design of the phone gives it a premium look. But, You can feel a sense of deja-vu while looking at its design. The phone comes with two color variant options – Graphite color and Soft Gold color.
In this video, you can see the mesmerizing quality of the phone and also what this device is capable of. Now moving on to some key specs of this device :
- 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED screen
- Full-HD(1920 x 1080) resolution display with pixel density of 401ppi
- 6GB RAM / 64GB Storage
- Latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
- Adreno 530 GPU for high-end gaming performance
- USB-C port with new Dash-Charge technology
- 16MP Rear camera and 8MP selfie camera
- Oxygen OS 3.1.2 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

The design looks very elegant in its first impressions. The phone comes up with 6 GB LPDDR4 RAM which is its big highlight and the second one in India under 6GB of RAM after the LeMax 2 which is also launched a few days back.
If we compare it to its predecessor OnePlus 2, the front look is almost same. There is a USB Type-C port alongside with the speakers on the bottom of the handset with the same arrangement as on OnePlus 2. But, when it comes to display, the company now using the AMOLED technology which means each individual pixel emits its own light rather than the IPS LCD panel from the OnePlus 2 which uses a backlight to illuminate the pixels.
This time, the company offers the latest Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 chipset in OnePlus 3 which can be found in some flagship devices only.
In addition of Adreno™ 530 GPU, the performance of this phone becomes quite impressive whether in terms of high-end gaming, apps or during some other exhaustive applications.
The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with OnePlus’s OxygenOS skin veneered. The latest version of the OxygenOS 3.1.2 gives more features to personalize the smartphone experience like screen-off gestures and customizable buttons, are all built right in.
The device comes with a 3000mAh battery which is slightly less than the battery of OnePlus2. But, this time, company introduces its new Dash Charge technology which uses a patented system based on Oppo’s VOOC technology which means to take advantage of Dash charge technology you will have to use only the official OnePlus Dash Charge cable and adaptor. They use 5V/4A output. There is also a heat dispersion system element added in the Dash Charge Adaptor, which accredits it to manage any heating issues before it reaches to the device.
Through this Dash Charge technology, the company promises 63% of battery with just 30-minutes of charging. The company also optimized the Marshmallow Doze feature specifically for the OnePlus 3, so your battery lasts even longer.
Now, moving on to its Camera performance, OnePlus 3 comes with the superior 16MP rear camera with Sony IMX 298 Sensor having f/2.0 aperture with lightning-fast shutter speed and features loaded like snappy autofocus, Auto-HDR, panorama, face detection, Manual mode and dual stabilization(Optical Image Stabilization and Electronic Image Stabilization) which prevents unwanted shakes and movements and leads you to capture stunning pictures of every moment of your life. I also got a chance to experience its camera performance in the pop-up event of OnePlus in New Delhi, and the images I captured there from this phone was just crisp and natural.
Here are some official camera samples of OnePlus 3 :
Here You can see what OnePlus 3’s camera is capable of. The detailing in every picture is just awesome, the colour reproduction is amazing and I personally loved the performance of its camera. You can do 720p, 1080p and even 4K resolution video recording(at 30fps) from its rear camera and it is also capable of shooting 720p slow-motion videos at 120fps.
On the front, you can see an 8MP selfie shooter camera with Sony IMX179 sensor having an aperture of f/2.0 and some other features like Electronic Image Stabilization(EIS), Fixed Focus and the new feature they introduced, this time, is the smile capture so just smile for the camera and it will take the pictures automatically for you. You can shoot even 1080p video recording from its front camera.
Talking about some basic specs, all sensors are present in the device, dual nano-sim support, 3.5mm audio jack, alert slider, gestures control, Bluetooth® 4.2, NFC enabled and also Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4 protection for its 1080p display.
In my point of view, this phone is a worth buy loaded with tons of exciting features. We all know that OnePlus always comes with aggressive pricing of their phones and they continues it with OnePlus 3. They priced this amazing flagship device in Indian market at INR27,999(417 US dollar$). And the best thing they did, this time, is that they shredded the invite system which means the phone is available to all. Yes, it’s true, no need to wait for that invite in your email.
Right now only Granite colour option is available but the company confirmed that Soft Gold variant will hit the market in the second half of July.
